Aequis launch party

Rooms with a view

The new Aequis home is an impressive sight indeed.

Designers Caroline Bury and Rebecca Kirkland wanted to reflect the freshness and contemporary feel of the Aequis brand, to communicate the edginess of a business operating at the forefront of their field and to develop a design that embraced the notion of the art of advice.

They have achieved this vision through the extensive use of glass to embrace the clear, translucent elements of the Aequis brand - maximising natural light and views and creating an open, transparent feel.

The result is an open, light-filled office that makes use of fresh colours and warm natural timbers, while the use of unusual shapes such as the triangular meeting rooms and reception desk completes the contemporary, clean design.

The Aequis art of advice theme continues with original works of art hanging throughout the offices, including work by Tasmanian artist Philip Wolfhagen, and New Zealand artist Euan Macleod. The Aequis meeting rooms are also named after artists - including John Glover and Haughton Forrest, who were both inspired by the Tasmanian landscape.

The new Aequis office is located in Rosny at Level 1, Rosny Plaza, 18 Ross Avenue in the heart of Rosny Park. Entry to the Rosny Plaza is from Bayfield Street, and there is free parking for Aequis clients.

Aequis was officially launched on May 1st at the firm's stunning new offices in Rosny Park -

before a gathering of special guests including the Mayor of Clarence, Alderman Jock Campbell, Director of MLC Nominees Mr Dick Morath and Davey & Scurrah and Ritchie & Associates clients.

The guests mingled and enjoyed glasses of champagne in the sleek new surroundings which were still getting a final polish just prior to the launch.

'You'll see there's still a little bit of dust and a few loose ends...we literally kicked the builders out an hour before you arrived!' laughed Aequis Chief Executive Officer Steve Harvey as he addressed the guests.

Steve paid tribute to his team who he said had worked tirelessly in preparation for the launch of Aequis.

'Each business has continued operation as normal during our changeover to Aequis,' he said. 'It's been a pleasure to lead this great team because really, they have led themselves. We're all very excited and looking forward to the future as Aequis.'

Steve also thanked the firm's extended team of business specialists who had been instrumental in the development of Aequis, including David Inches of Inspired by Marketing, James Cuda and his team at Savage Media and communications consultant Maura Bedloe of Working Words. He also paid a high compliment to interior designers Rebecca Kirkland and Caroline Bury whose stunning office design won compliments all round.

Steve then introduced MLC Board Member Dick Morath who began his speech with a question.

'Imagine you are an old friend of two families - one with a son and one with a daughter - and you think they are made for each other. My question to you is - would you say anything? That's the position we were in at Garvan and MLC - knowing Doug, Ian and Rod and their teams so well as great businesses with great people. The merger was obvious to me - I am delighted with this new business and have every confidence in the people who are behind it.'

Aequis co-owner Rod Scurrah agreed with the marriage analogy.

'We're very focused that our value is all about the advice we give to our clients - and that is all about longevity. Other service providers deal in transactions but we deal on an ongoing basis with people's lives and futures - so our advice needs to carry forward for 30 years or more.

Rod concluded the launch with a message to Aequis clients.

'This business is about you - our outcomes are focused on the goals that you have, and that is what we want to focus on now and in the future.'
