We used to be comfortable. For over 10 years, there were no serious worries about funding – either in our current retirement lifestyle, or our planning for later years.
The financial turmoil changed all that, as it has for so many.
Relief came unexpectedly. We were whingeing to a much-respected former banker friend. He said he could arrange for us to meet with someone whose skills, experience and approach might be just what we needed. His name – Rod Scurrah.
When we did meet, we liked Rod, and what he had to say. He told us of his recently formed advisory group called Aequis. We went to their offices, were impressed with the setup, and the other people we met. Rod invited us to what he called a Discovery Meeting.
Two things particularly impressed us before the Discovery Meeting was held. First, that it was planned for 1 ½ hours, meaning that there was ample time to explain who we were, what our concerns were and what we hoped a relationship with Aequis would provide.
Second, we were advised that Rod would be joined at the meeting by one of Aequis’ female Financial Advisers, Jackie Kirkwood.
Already, the plan is working. In Rod and Jackie, we feel we have friendly partners, rather than formal advisers.

Our financial affairs moved to Aequis in early 2009 after a string of events led us there.
I had been involved in the design of their new offices and so had been working with the Aequis team since their early conception.
